Join the 2019 Commemoration of the first Africans brought to English North America 400 years ago at Point Comfort, now Fort Monroe, Virginia.

When: Friday through Sunday, August 23-25, 2019

Where: Fort Monroe, VA

Cost: Free and open to the public

Description: The event and its legacy will be noted in museum exhibits, musical performances, heritage tours, living history, multicultural cuisine and crafts, children’s activities, keynote speakers and more. Saturday’s activities include food and merchandise vendors on-site. The weekend’s performances include drummers, dancers, Common with Sounds of Blackness at the Coliseum, and a gospel concert at First Baptist Church. Free.
