MILLION BULB WALK AT NORFOLK BOTANICAL GARDEN

Dates: November 10-30, 2017, daily from 4-9pm
Where: Norfolk Botanical Garden, 6700 Azalea Garden Rd., Norfolk, VA 
What: Enjoy a festive and healthy way to kick off the holidays. Walk through 2 miles of spectacular lighted displays.
Cost: Tickets are $17 (not yet members); $15 (military); $13 (Garden members); $10 (children 3 to 17); children 2 & younger are FREE.

 

PENINSULA TOWN CENTER'S TREE LIGHTING

Dates: Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 4-7pm
Where: Peninsula Town Center, 4410 E. Claiborne Square, Hampton, VA, 23666
What: Join PTC & our frozen friends for an evening filled with free holiday entertainment!  Santa arrives and lights the tree at 7pm.
Cost: Free
 
 

SUFFOLK GRAND ILLUMINATION

Dates: Friday, November 17, 2017 beginning at 6pm
Where: Market Park at Seaboard Station Railroad Museum, 326 North Main Street, Suffolk, VA
What: The event rings in the holidays with the park opening at 6 p.m.  Watch the 32' tree light up when the switch is flipped at 6:15 p.m., illuminating Suffolk for the holiday season. Be there when Santa arrives in style (around 6:30 p.m.), and enjoy seasonal music courtesy of local choirs.  Be sure to bring along your camera to capture your children's smiling faces as they whisper their Christmas wishes to Santa Claus.

ANNUAL PAGODA AND GARDEN LIGHTFEST

Dates: November 18 - December 31, 2017 from 5pm to 10pm
Where: TowneBank Fountain Park at Town Point Park on the Downtown Norfolk, Virginia Waterfront
What: A beautiful display of lights featuring over 40,000 sparkles of friendship glowing in the Garden and Pagoda.

CHARITY HOLIDAY LIGHT STROLL

Dates: Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 5-7:30pm
Where: Newport News Park at the intersection of Ft. Eustis Blvd. and Jefferson Ave. in Newport News, VA
What: Join us for a 2 mile walk through the wonderful Holiday Lights on this special, one night only event!
Cost: $10 per ticket. $32 Family Four Pack. Children under 3 are free. Event held rain or shine.
 
 

LASER LIGHT SHOW AT ABBITT PLANETARIUM 

Dates:  Please check schedule for all days and times. Holiday light shows run on varying dates from November 22 - December 31, 2017.
Where: The Virginia Living Museum, 524 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601
What: Featuring classic holiday favorites like "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," modern hits like "Jingle Bell Rock," and unique reimaginings of timeless songs, this is an animated Christmas light display like no other you've ever seen!
Cost: Daytime shows: $4 plus Museum admission/free for members. Evening shows $6 non-members, $3 for members
 
 

NEWPORT NEWS CELEBRATION IN LIGHTS

Dates: November 23, 2017 - January 1, 2018. The event will be open each evening, 5:30 - 10pm
Where: Newport News Park at the intersection of Ft. Eustis Blvd. and Jefferson Ave. in Newport News, VA
What: Drive through two miles of holiday light displays with over 800,000 individual lights creating animated holiday and fanciful scenes. 
Cost: $12.00 per car and $60.00 per bus (cash, credit cards, and checks made payable to the City of Newport News are accepted; advance/gift tickets may be purchased at the Newport News Visitors Center)
 

 

HOLIDAY LIGHTS MAOLA MILK MERRY MILE

Dates: November 23, 2017 - December 31, 2017. Hours of operation are 5:30 - 10pm Sunday through Thursday, and 5:30pm - 11pm Friday - Saturday.
Where: On the boardwalk beginning at 2nd Street, Virginia Beach VA
What: 2017 brings a new experience to the boardwalk as Holiday Lights Merry Mile...a nautical and holiday fantasy of lights spread over a dozen blocks - from 8th Street to 22nd Street.  This year's light show will feature over 50 of our most popular, hand-picked displays along the boardwalk and beach.
Cost: $5 per vehicle Friday-Sunday and holidays. $4 per vehicle Monday-Thursday. $2 Military Mondays. $25 motorcoaches. CASH ONLY.
 
 

Tree Lighting Ceremony

Date: Friday, November 24, 2017 at 5:30pm
Where: Children's Museum of Virginia 221 High Street, Portsmouth VA
What: Join us for our first tree lighting in the mall area of the Children’s Museum. We will have music and snow from Snow Wonders as we kick off the holiday season for the Portsmouth Museums and the City of Portsmouth.
 
 

THE PORT WARWICK HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING

Dates: Saturday, November 25,2017 from 5-8:30pm
Where: Port Warwick, 3100 William Styron Square North, Newport News VA
What: The kids will love visiting with Santa after he lights up the holiday tree! Enjoy live entertainment, face painting, enjoy free hot pretzels while they last, and other goodies!

MILITARY ONLY: NAS OCEANA TREE LIGHTING

Dates: Friday, December 1, 2017 from 5:30-8:30pm
Where: NAS Oceana Youth Sports Complex, Bldg 531, Virginia Beach, VA
What: Inflatables, crafts, hayrides, face painting, balloon animals, pictures with Santa, tree lighting, Christmas music, movie starting at 8pm.

DOMINION GARDEN OF LIGHTS AT NORFOLK BOTANICAL GARDEN

Dates: December 1-31, 2017 from 5:30-10pm
Where: Norfolk Botanical Garden, 6700 Azalea Garden Rd., Norfolk, VA 23518
What: The garden is transformed into a winter wonderland where you can enjoy a 2-mile drive through a million sparkling lights bringing the four seasons to life.
Cost: General Admission is $25 Per Car (Monday – Thursday) and $30 Per Car (Friday, Saturday & Sunday).  Members receive $5 off nightly. Limo & Multipassenger vans: $50. Specials include Military Appreciation Discount (save $1 any night of the week), City of Norfolk Employees is Monday-Thursday only ($24 per car with current employee ID Monday-Thursday only). PHOEBUS ANNUAL ILLUMINATION

Date: Friday, December 1, 2017 at 5-9pm
Where: Mellan, Mallory & Hope Streets, Hampton, VA
What: Please join us as we celebrate this special season with live holiday music, arts & crafts vendors, a visit from Santa, holiday decorations, a Christmastreelighting and snow! Beginning at 8 p.m., don't miss the Phoebus Christmas tree illumination on East Mellen Street.

TOWN OF SMITHFIELD CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING

Date: Friday, December 1, 2017 at 5:30pm
Where: Smithfield Times Gazebo, 228 Main Street, Smithfield VA
What: The town Christmas tree will be lit by Community Honoree to officially kick-off the holiday season. Entertainment will feature local vocalists and bands and a Christmas message given by a local minister. Refreshments will be provided by the Woman’s Club of Smithfield. Join us for this FREE Family Event!

GHENT ANNUAL HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING

Date: December 1, 2017 at 6:30 pm
Where: Blair Middle School, Colley & Spotswood Avenues, Norfolk VA
What: Ghent’s Holiday Open House Weekend starts with the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 6:30pm in front of Blair Middle School on Colley Avenue.  Join your friends from the Ghent Business Association for a family-friendly event to help spread the holiday spirit throughout Ghent.  Enjoy music and caroling from area school groups. Warm up with hot chocolate and cookies.  And, there will be a special appearance by Santa Claus as he helps light the tree.

YORKTOWN LIGHTED BOAT PARADE

Dates: Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 6-8pm
Where: Yorktown, VA Waterfront
What: Following the Christmas Market on Main, the waterfront will light up with a spectacular community tradition - the Yorktown Lighted Boat Parade! Decorated to display their best holiday spirit—local sail, pleasure, and work boats coast down the York River in a competition for “Best in Show.” There will be complimentary hot cider served by the Boy Scout Troop 123 of Seaford; live music including a performance by the Fifes and Drums of York Town and Yorktown Chorale; and a beach bonfire. As an added safety precaution, families are encouraged to bring flashlights to assist in navigation around town at night.

ANNUAL LIGHTING OF THE BOATS

Date: Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 7pm
Where: Smithfield Station 415 South Church Street in downtown Smithfield VA
What: The public is invited to watch from the back deck of the Smithfield Station Marina for a boat decorating contest, annual lighting and complimentary hot chocolate and treats!
 
 

DOWNTOWN HAMPTON LIGHTED BOAT PARADE

Dates: Friday, December 8, 2017 from 6-9pm
Where: on the Downtown Hampton Oceanfront.
What: Cruise into the spirit of the holiday season. More than 20 boats are expected to participate. This highly anticipated parade of illuminated power and sail boats will be visible from anywhere along the Hampton River, however spectators wanting to hear the narration will want to find a spot near the Hampton Maritime Center.

2017 Fallen Hero's Tree

Dates: Thanksgiving night through January 6, 2018
Where: Located at 2000 Brians Lane in Suffolk. Will be lit thanksgiving night and stay lit until Jan 6th 2018.
What: Each ornament on the tree has a name of a firefighter or police officer who died in the line of duty in 2017. Everyone is welcome.

 

Christmas on Mansion Cross Light

Dates: Sunday-Thursday, 5:15-9pm, and Friday-Saturday, 5:15-10:30pm. The show will run every night between November 24th and December 29th.  
Special Events: 
  • Dec. 15th, 16th- Free Hot Chocolate from 6:30-8:30pm
  • Dec. 22nd, 23rd- Free Hot Chocolate from 6:30-8:30pm
  • Dec. 24th- Christmas Eve. *Show will run until 11pm*
  • Dec. 25th- Christmas!! *Show will run until 11pm*
Where: 2221 Mansion Cross Lane in Virginia Beach (Just off of London Bridge Rd., across from Hunt Club Farm).
What: This year we have nearly 30,000 lights on display that covers 3 homes all synced together to 5 songs that include Daft Punk Medley by Pentatonix, Text Me Merry Christmas by Straight No Chaser, Home Alone Theme from Home Alone, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy by Pentatonix, and Dueling Jingle Bells by The US Navy Band. 
Cost: Free (Accepting donations to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital)
