Reminder! FREE Admission to Norfolk Botanical Garden – WPA Heritage

Enjoy FREE Admission to Norfolk Botanical Garden in February 2024 in honor of the 220 African American WPA workers who planted the first azaleas in the garden.

Where: Norfolk Botanical Garden, 6700 Azalea Garden Road Norfolk, Virginia 23518

When: Thursdays in February, 2024. Higher than normal visitation is expected, you can reserve your free admission ticket online. Reserve ticket here.

Description: Norfolk Botanical Garden is celebrating Black History Month with Free Admission Thursdays, and a screening of the documentary Rhythms of the Land. As a Virginia Historic Landmark and inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places, NBG has a long history with humble beginnings. Today, the Garden celebrates the 220 African American Works Progress Administration workers who cleared dense vegetation and planted the first azaleas at NBG in the late 1930s.

To honor their legacy, and share the gift of nature with all, enjoy what the Garden has to offer with Free Thursdays all February long.

Special Event: Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. enjoy a complimentary screening of the groundbreaking documentary Rhythms of the Land, presented in partnership with the Chesapeake-Va. Beach Alumna chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and sponsored by Bank of America. Reservations required.
