Norfolk: Camps

Through 4-H, young people are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities that emphasize 4-H's "learning by doing" philosophy of youth development. 4-H Programs offers programs for young people ages 5-18. Summer camp available for ages 9-12.

4-H has lots of projects: photography, technology, leadership, animals, horticulture, health, citizenship, nutrition, clothing, rocketry, woodworking, entomology, and arts and theatre.

Residential 4-H Camps—programming events for youth ages 9 to 13 in which campers stay overnight (5 days, 4 nights).

Special Interest 4-H Camps—programming events focusing mainly on a specific project or theme area. There is a large variety of special interest 4-H camps available. Different age group requirements are offered for these camps.

Cloverbud 4-H Camps—programming events for youth 5-8 years of age. Youth must meet the minimum age of 5 between October 1 and September 30, and must not be older than the maximum age.

Offering French, Spanish, German, Arabic and English to both kids and adults, group and individuals, serving all of Hampton Roads. Summer programs available.

Acton Academy Hampton Roads is a learner-driven, mixed-aged, Montessori school, serving learners PreK-12th grade. Summer quest programs available.

Adaptive Dance for All is a program for children and adults of all ages in an inclusive atmosphere. This program serves any mental or physical disabilities to develop social skills, independence, motor learning, and verbal proficiency. Programs are offered throughout the year.

Offering aerial/circus arts classes and workshops to youth and adults at various studios in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area.

BLAST offers a dynamic, three-day, residential summer experience on the campuses of Old Dominion University, Virginia Tech and University of Virginia. Through innovative hands-on sessions taught by faculty members and staff, students will explore the fun and excitement of STEM while residing in a college dorm.

Current Virginia 8th and 9th grade students with at least a C+ average and a desire to explore STEM opportunities are encouraged to apply.

BLAST is offered FREE of charge to students; however, transportation to and from the universities is the responsibility of each family. Students who have previously participated in BLAST are not eligible.

Summer Day Camp located in Norfolk. Open to Girls entering grades 1-12. Campers participate in traditional camp activities such as Archery, Swimming, Canoeing, Arts.

Camp Einstein - STEAM Summer Program for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Open to both Norfolk residents and non-residents. Breakfast and lunch provided.

Camp HOPE Norfolk is the first summer camp and mentoring program in Virginia for children who have experienced primary or secondary abuse and trauma. This groundbreaking camp, which offers a clinically-proven curriculum designed to help children overcome trauma to lead more hopeful lives, is being offered by the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the Family Justice Center. Camp HOPE Norfolk is composed of a week of camp, supported by year-round activities.

Children who are eligible are screened through the Family Justice Center, and will attend Camp HOPE Norfolk for free through grants procured through the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office. While this program is based out of Norfolk, it is open to all eligible youth in the Hampton Roads area.

Summer Camps for 1st through 6th graders that take place at local elementary schools. This one-of-a-kind weeklong experience connects science, technology, engineering and math through fun hands-on activities.

Camp Invention is led by experienced local educators and new curriculum is introduced each year, inspired by the Inductees of the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Children K-6 are presented with fun, hands-on challenges that encourage creative problem solving, teamwork, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

The Center for Bioelectronics STEM Summer Institute Program is a one-week academic program for rising 6th - 11th graders and rising 12th graders who express a desire to pursue a career in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

The program provides students with information and research experience in various fields of bioenergy, bioelectrical science, materials engineering, and medicine in order to acquaint students with the requirements for pursuing a career in STEM. Middle school students participate in engineering related classroom projects, while high school students blend materials engineering and medical research to solve real world problems.

Youth Baseball Camps for Boys and Girls ages 6-19.

Art Museum. General admission is free. Free family activities including family festivals, story time, pre-k programs, glass-blowing demonstrations and more. Homeschool Studio, Scouts events, summer camps available. Hours: Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday from 12-5pm.

Kids Summer Camp Kids is a week-long day camp developed and designed for children and their dogs, offering opportunity to learn and expand their knowledge through dog related activities and more. Ages 8-13 years

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy, located in the beautiful Ghent area of Norfolk. Ages 3-100 welcome! Summer and out of school camps available.

Coastal Broadway Collaborative (CBC) is a three-week musical theatre summer intensive. CBC’s innovative musical theatre intensive is a one of a kind pre-professional training program for aspiring theater and musical theater performers ages 10-19. Accepted by audition only.

The CSC facility is a 13,000 square foot all-turf practice facility in Norfolk. There are camps and private instruction available in baseball/softball and the center does cater to all sports including baseball, softball, soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, and other field sports.

Cougar Club Camp! Campers will enjoy a variety of interesting themes, exciting activities, stimulating academics, and special events. Early Learners – 5th grade. You do not have to attend the school to attend camp. All are welcome!

d'Art Center hosts art exhibitions, houses gallery and studio spaces with on-site resident artists to interact with, and provides interactive programming. The center also offers art-focused summer camp programming for ages 6-13 in June - August, and children's workshops and classes for ages 6+!

Soccer camp for youth ages 5+

"Featuring Jesus: Art Camp" is an intensive week where we dive into the truth about who we are as artists and who God is as our Creator. We want to see young artists (7 yr. -12yr. ) build confidence and be encouraged in their unique creativity.

We will be exploring sketching, painting, sculpture, murals, face painting, pastels and artists will have individual as well as collaborative team projects. A snack and lunch will be provided and the week will end in an art show at a local coffee shop exhibiting all of the hard work these artists have done.

In Outdoor Adventure Camp, children ages 5–15 embark on a journey of discovery, friendship, and excitement! Our camp is designed to provide a safe and engaging environment for young adventurers to explore the great outdoors, build new skills, and create lasting memories. Ages 5–12, Adaptive Camp, Designed for campers whose abilities require additional assistance when participating in camp activities, Adaptive Camp at the YMCA at JT’s Camp Grom provides a fun, tailored outdoor adventure camp experience with activities like archery, fishing, swimming and more.
Ages 15–16, Counselor In Training (CIT), At YMCA Camp Red Feather, CIT participants develop and practice the leadership skills they need to become a camp counselor, working first-hand with campers and learning and practicing facilitation skills.

YWCA South Hampton Roads provides Summer Clubhouse Programming at Oceanair Elementary school in Norfolk. The program provides activities to enhance the social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills for children ages four to twelve.
